( Le cadavre exquisCollapse ) just loud enough for him to hear.

Just to clarify: this community differs from the original technique in that you are able to veiw all words that have been written before your own. Basically, you read the whole drabble, not just the final seven words.
However, while writing your continuation you are free to go off on whatever tangent you want, so long as you use those final seven words as a focus and guide. Please also note, that if the person before you has cut off mid-sentence, you must finish this sentence (or give the impression of an intentional break in the flow).
Sorry for any confusion.
[ETA: i_smile asked if "we're supposed to read the drabble and continue on, or use the last words as a springboard", or whether one could do either. This got be thinking that maybe it would be interesting if both options were available, the latter for those who wish to be in keeping with the original pen-and-paper game, and the former for those who wish to participate in something that I suppose is akin to a round-robin].

Among Surrealist techniques exploiting the mystique of accident was a kind of collective collage of words or images called the cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse). Based on an old parlor game, it was played by several people, each of whom would write a phrase on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution. The technique got its name from results obtained in initial playing, "Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau" (The exquisite corpse will drink the young wine).
And me being the strange obsessive that I am thought the technique might make an interesting HP writing community. One that might give people something to do during a dead ten minutes at work, or whatever. A rainy day kind of thing.
( Anyway, the (edited) rules.Collapse )
Anyone who is interested in joining, please do so. I have no desire to have a stagnant community on my hands.
New members currently will not have posting access automatically, but as soon as I notice that they have joined I will grant it them (which will probably be pretty quickly, as I am on the Internet almost constantly).
[ETA: Posting access is now automatically granted to new members. Also, please note that non-members can comment on posts (and therefore continue threads) as well as members].
Any questions? Suggestions or criticisms? Please leave a comment.
